Interesting development, 2022 pricing volley has begun. Nina's on 17th avenue advertising $60/1hr, $30/30m, $90/90m beginning January 10. With insurance receipts for all companies.

Recently the trend to charge more for receipted massages is idiotic. Most people's plan limits are pretty modest, so the idea that more can be charged if it is on insurance is a foolish notion. With people spending more on their food and energy bills, no one will be ready to throw away more money on massages. Buyers' market.

Pre-COVID, I could get regular, quality, inexpensive massages for $60 or $65 with a receipt. Some of the same therapists now want $85 or more!

I think a good lesson in Capitalism would help. Charge more when supply is limited and less when customers are limited. Right now, they are trying the reverse I think.

Oh well, I’ll just wait for things to settle and only go when I have to.

There are a reasonable number of therapists still available at $70 or $80 per hour, and their skills are as good or better than those trying for higher prices. Ultimately it's about total value, and repeat business. Talking about therapeutic massages, not the sperm of the moment AMP stuff. Higher prices may be justifiable if the therapist is beyond exceptional, and puts in so much effort per massage that they need to do fewer massages per day. In my idea of the perfect future, more of the best masseuses would set themselves up in a lower cost home based business, and use modern booking tools, and call/text answering services (so they can focus on the clients and the massages, not the scheduling).

Over the years saw a lot of the kijiji ads where the 90 minutes pricing makes no sense. But we live in a math challenged society, so some providers are clueless about slightly lower per minute rates, as the total time increases.

To play along with these odd ads, just ask if their 90 minutes rate includes a hj? And if 2 hour rate includes FS?

Of course they have to be a RMT with an active association number. Various insurance companies also have requirements for 3000 hours or 2200 hours training/qualifications. First step when booking is to check directly with the shop and therapist if they are in good standing with your specific insurance company. If you have a therapist name and address, and phone number you can check directly with your insurer in advance. Some therapists offer direct billing. And most insurance companies have online submissions now. As soon as you put in some details on the claim, any existing legitimate therapist's information will show a match with the information that you are entering. Assuming they have been practising for some time already.

The insurance company blacklists are always getting updated. Personally I only get receipted massages from a few select therapists who I know have been in good standing for years.
