Attempted robbery on the News....

KPBS has also taken up the Surfer article yesterday. When guns are being used it is definitely getting out of control. It seem that the police in San Diego is starting to investigate the robbery. I hope that the recent incidents are an isolated case and it doesn’t happen again. We just need to be more careful and try to keep a low profile. Mexico has lots of nice places to visit and enjoy. Majority of the people in Mexico are good people. That’s why we go; the women alone make it worth the risk. We just need to find a way to minimize the risk. If you guys have any good ideas to stay safe in and out of the zona lets hear it. I think that was the original purpose of starting this tread.

I'm shocked that Burt is suspicious of the story! But I'm with him except I'll go a little farther and say it sure sounds like downright BULLSHIT! I could see many one of those things happening, and even that is giving them the benefit of doubt, but when you add all those things up as happening. I'm sorry, to say very very unlikely to occur. The way I look at things when I find one thing that's obvious not correct, I just toss the whole thing out as bullshit, but that's just me. There are so many problems with the story, it's not worth my time to go into them.

However, if it did occur it would serve those surfers right. as most local surfers are very territorial and don't like it when others invade their beach, and they let them know it.

Perhaps, it's has something to do with that, trying to scare other gringo surfers from surfing the waves of Baja California? Besides that the article was professionally written

I think alot has to due with the Anti-illegal immigration crack down .anti Mexican trucks entering the USA. These news get big headlines in MEXICO.
The Mexican news media portrays Americanos as very racist that will hunt down Mexicanos at will. That's also a reason you will see a rise of anti gringo in Mexico.

Im against illegal immigration.

I hope it is not a trend. I saw a similar attack story on Fox news. There is a short video clip of the report. The method of attack is almost identical to the surfers and in the same proximity. Check out the link below.

I’ve heard some “vets” express the opinion this was an exercise in creative writing. I too am suspicious.

First of all, the stop supposedly occurred on Ave. International. There was a problem with cops pulling over cars with American plates on this road. It got so bad the cops are no longer allowed to stop cars with US plates here. Since the policy change I haven’t heard of cars with US plates being stopped. (The people living in Playas, Rosarito, etc. with US plates ceased to stop and the cops ceased trying to pull them over.) So I'm suspicious of somebody saying the cops pulled him over on Av. International.

The story also says:

"But to the surfers dismay the policeman turns onto Avenida Revolucion into the seediest part of Tijuana and pulls over.
…
It's 5:30am on Avenida Revolucion in Tijuana and all sorts of sketchy people are around. Whores. Street people. Thugs. Drunks."

Ave. Revolucion is not a seedy part of Tijuana. Nor is it filled with “whores, street people, thugs, and drunks.” Not even at 5:30 am.

Saw it on the news last night. It was a fisherman returning home and it was a ford explorer with lights on it.........The guy got out of his car and pointed a gun at the fisherman in his F150. The fisherman floored it and got away.
Always have your wits about you while in TJ.......it is safe but just be aware of your surroundings......
