Bars Under The New Boxing Stadium and Tiger Open Last Night

Is there any good thaiboxing going on at that stadium or is it just a tourist thing?

Some not all of the new bars next to Jungceylon on the middle road opened last night.

I got an invite from the owners Khai and Harv to attend one of the bars,Boxing Bar,which is at the front of the bars under the new boxing stadium.
It also coincided with a heavy downpour of rain which flooded soi sans sabai with nearly knee deep water.

The bars are quite open and airy,which is something i dont like about the bars under the old tiger disco,whos build and theme they resemble.
It`seems to be a bit more open and roomy inside as well.

The music was a little loud and echoey for my liking but it did attract the attention of the passers by.

There was a boxing match on upstairs and together with the traffic for Jungceylon the area was quite busy.

The owners dont know what the operating hours are yet.So there is still some teething to be sorted out.

There will certainly be plenty of foot traffic in the area and with the alleged long term plans to have the Patong nightlife area moved there perhaps it may turn out to be a good position.

Time will tell.

Drove past today- both Boxing Bar and the one next to it have for sale signs displayed- I'd rather buy swamp land in Florida!

I haven't seen any of them - and even if I had, I wouldn't know the difference. But according to the speaker-cars it is very big fights. Biggest fight of the year. Every week!

Heard some punting numbers of 3 mil for 3 years which is insane..

Since then I heard much more normal numbers for Bangla beer bars but think its going to lack bangla foot traffic at least for its first year trade.

get your facts right,the bars signs are job adds for girls maybe you should learn to read thai simbo or should that be dumbo lol, and the boxing bar is doing ok and not for sale fact.

I think you are correct here. I doubt very seriously that the area wil pull from the high end hotel patrons that now visit Bangla. Will get the Nanai to Bangla traffic, but will it be enough?

I have been on some fights in Koh Samui, Krabi and in Sweden. The ones on Koh Samui was really great. I have heard from people that the ones on Koh Samui is famous for having good fighters.

Yes I have seen and heard the car............ TONIGHT JADDA, JADDA, JADDA, JADDA and the fighters on the car looks like they would get killed if the go up in the ring against a real fighter.

They paid 1.5m for 3 or 4 years, I think.

Part of the reason the new ones were built, I thought, it was not sure Pian would or could renew Tiger on Bangla.

So Tiger now have a new lease on Bangla, Soi Crocodile a new lease... so bars aint moving from Bangla anywhere soon.

I wish Gai good luck with her new business.

the actual stadium is pretty good, upper seating has an awesome view.

i went to the opening night and the fights where prize fights and very good, with (legit) world champs on the card. obviously they still work to pulling the tourist crowd but most people (thais) leave when the tourist fights come on

You`d only want to be at the very front there,for sure.

Although last night with the rain blowing in from the east,sitting at the bar at the front we had to move as the rain was blowing in and on us.

You'll get a mixed bag at the Phuket stadiums. There are a lot of top fighters there and also a lot of first timers. There's always at least one "set up" fight where a Thai "flops" against a farang. For the best fights, you have to go to Raja and Lumpini stadiums in Bangkok

It will be interesting to see how long they survive. If in fact Tiger renewed as did Soi Crocodile, I just can't see the new places on the middle road doing so well...The center of attraction, at least for now, shall always be on Bangla as thats where everyone will want to be...The new bars may get some spill over from the boxing events...but thats about it
