BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Via Rail says a train bound for Toronto from Montreal has collided with a truck at a level crossing in eastern Ontario.Spokeswoman Catherine Kaloutsky says some passengers and crew on the train suffered minor injuries in the collision east of Belleville.
Kaloutsky says one of the train's eight crew members has been transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
There were 432 passengers on the train and Kaloutsky says buses will be brought in to transport them to Toronto.
The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. and Kaloutsky says the train remained upright on the tracks, but the line is blocked by debris.
Kaloutsky says the blocked line will likely affect train schedules throughout Friday.
"There is a lot of debris, truck debris, along the track so, at the moment, the line is closed," she said.
Kaloutsky says the line serves both Montreal and Ottawa.
"With the line being closed we don't know what kind of delays we'll be seeing in our evening departures," she said.
I wonder what the circumstances were behind this?
