English commentary for the World Cup?

Guys,

Has anybody come across any bars that have the Malaysian Astro satellite feed on their TV's - as far as i'm aware these are the only places that will have English commentary for the World Cup (apart from bars that have a Slingbox setup).

Any info would be great, the World cup is just not the same without the commentary on...

All the cable TV bars have South African sports channels which are all in English so no problems.:mdr:

I havent checked yet but K2 said they were going to be off air end of May? May affect a lot of Aussie football too when it happens.

The South African DSTV network is pretty much gone now, any channels that are left will not be on air when the World Cup starts.

Astro is basically the only option for English commentary - it would be good to know which bars have it fitted in advance of the World Cup starting to get a plan in place on where to watch the big games.

I'm basically f#$@# here in Dxb, just found out that the 2 German channels will be removed during the WC from the Satelites because of an "license technical issue".

Now, that means a lot of trips to the pub, but what are the chances that they will always show the German games with so many Brits around here ;-(

On the bright site, the more time into the tournament...the better the chances ;-))

Don't worry Rob. Although England and Gelleman play on the same day twice, their games start at different times.
And otherwise you just look at the boys in Orange. Afterall you have some roots there too! :whistle:

I had a look at my cable in the bar which used to have Saffa channels, they were gone. I had one Astro sports channel there instead.

I will watch WC on True HD channel, dont know if Thai or English commentary, but it doesnt matter in the bar with loud music.

I pretty much think its official that the SA supersports channels in Thailand are now finished. Myself and the Loop had to watch the MotoGP on True Visions because the Supersports channels were not to be found. Trouble with TV is the fecking commercial breaks in the middle of races SS never had that...

I read somewhere on line that a Thai Broadcast company has the exclusive rights for the WC and are letting places in Bangkok to have it for free to make up for Red shirt upheaval.Article went on to mention that to have it in the bar to show to public involves a licence fee of over 10,000 Baht!!!!:slap:

5!5! BAR on OTOP will be having the Astro feed as of coming Monday. All matches will be shown there with full English commentary. Also as normal a free daily BBQ.
