gmail chat problem and certification error?

Hi, i have this long stiry bout how it all started.

My battery has a sucky dead battery. Comp only works when it is plugged. I was on gmail chat and then i accedently unplugged my comp and it shut off. I went back on and before i reached gmail this thing about this securty certificate kinda blocked me until i checked it out further and it said to continue on. I have ie8 windows vista. I check if facebook and myspace have that certficate problem and they do. Infact all login required websits have it. I went onmy brothers comp, ie8 and xp and they dnt have any of that.My windows update cant find update and has error 80072F8F. i looked it up and said that my date and time was mesed up and it was, so i changed it back and it still didnt work.i restarted my comp but nothing changed. Now i went on to gmail then i saw that my chat said Your internet connection is experiencing problems or your network administrator has blocked Gmail chat. I am my own aministrator and im sure i did not go behind my back and blocked it. On topof the page it has this stupid pop out and the long search bar where the website is displayed is read with a small bar nest to it saying certification error. Please anyone can help me out of this mess i'll be very grateful.
