Google Street View of MPs!!!

You can actually see people walking into the spas. Plus you can see the cars parked in the parking lot.

I did a search and viewed some of the spas on street view level - kind of scary.

Yes, they have algorithms that blurs out faces and plate numbers at the time the pictures taken..however, a model/make/color of the car or there's special markings in the car (eg, dents or other ornaments) still gives away who you are for those knows you personally

if you are the person, someone close to you probably know who you are by the way your dress and physical apperance without looking at the faces..

The pics are definitely NOT real time. However, if you were unlucky enough to be there when the pic was taken...
Some people are recognizable even when the face is blurred. On the news 2 nites ago they were showing this technology and tied it in with the Ontario Health Minister who resigned over the spending scandals at Ehealth and David Kaplan was readily recognizable leaving Queen's Park (they said the photo was from June or July).

This was a real concern in the states when Google started it. The resolution was/is so good you could read all of the license plates.

Now some graduate student is tasked with smearing all of those on each image before they release the street view for certain areas.

Thankfully privacy advocates got the lame idiots at Google to see that most people did not like the world being able to see whose car was parked outside of strip clubs, marijuana clubs, etc.

I do not like that Google assumes everyone wants their home street pictured for the world to see.

So are we now making a game of posting the various MP's in the Toronto area?

The data for the GTA was actually gathered in late May through June. It's interesting when you look at the boundaries of the photos - Google must have been using GPS to determine where they were going to stop coverage. In Oshawa, for example, they have nothing north of Conlin Road.

Also places like SRM1 and 2 aren't visible because they are on private property back from the public roads. Alphacare is also removed since they are inside a professional building. The Google folks only drove on public streets - they didn't go into private townhouse corporations, strip malls, or industrial plazas.

I used to think that Google Earth was amazing, but coupled with this new feature in Google Maps it's great. I wonder how often Google plans to update their databases?

If you go north to Broadway, then from Broadway look onto Yonge, you can tell that the photos were taken some time time apart. The ones from Broadway appear to have been taken first, before the construction began.

Also, one business that I recognize has the window shade up in one photo, and from a slightly different angle it is down. Another shows a pub that was being renovated with the windows covered up, but when I advance a few feet forward, lo and behold the patio is out and the bar is open for business.

They may have taken a series of photos, first driving north up Yonge St then driving down another time weeks later.

Wait for it to load completely with the street view, and you can clearly read enough license plates. I would say it would be a bad day for the guy with the mazda place B-GF -75, I know that would be enough for Mrs Boring to nail my ass.
