As some may know from a thread I interrupted, my GF and I sold our house, pretty much all of our belongings, and we moved to Portugal. This was made quite easy thanks to her having an EU passport, based in Portugal, her country of birth. We bought an apartment on the south coast, about 5 min walk from a fabulous beach. We went from 2000sq ft in Edmonton to 600 here, and love it. Things are so much slower and simpler. We live two blocks from a great grocery store. We don't own a car here, and have no plans to buy one. We take trains between cities/towns.
Our place wasn't ready on the date it was supposed to be, which is a common occurrence here, so we just stayed in Lisbon for an extra two weeks. We had new flooring and some other things done prior to moving in, and contractors move very slowly here - but so does everyone, and that is a positive to me.
We also got married! We've been a couple for a looooong time, but never bothered doing the legal thing. While it's more than possible to immigrate to the EU as a common-law couple, even in 2024, being legally married does make things go much smoother. So, just before leaving Canada, we got hitched. Finally, lol.
Lisbon has a very vibrant swingers scene but we decided instead of meeting couples, we'd treat ourselves to a pair of massage sessions at one of Lisbon's amazing high end massage parlours.
The first session was the "For Her." Couples massages include your choice of two attendants, including your choice of gender for each. We choose two men, and so my wife (not GF anymore!) had two fabulous young men plus myself giving her our undivided attention.
