HELP!! Massage table REEKS of cigarette smoke!!!

A classmate of mine gave me her table as she has decided not to go on to become an LMT.
Problem is that the table REEKS of smoke!!! I've NEVER been a smoker and am really sensitive to this, so I know it will be an issue for future clients.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? This table has NEVER been used, but apparently has set in her very smoky home too long.
I wish I'd known before I took this table in the first place. :*(

You may want to read through this entire thread and see if there is a nugget that will help you out.

Possibly the mention of washing with water, baking soda and vinegar may be useful. (???????)

I would get it outside right away! And of course wash it down.

I would wash it down throughly and dry it. My guess is that the wood has absorbed the cigarette odor as well. So that will have to be wiped down. Try vinegar water? Maybe try to fabreeze the underside of the table?

After washing it, I'd definitely set it outside for some fresh air, weather permitting. Weather not permitting, aim a box fan at it for a few days in a remote location, if you have space to spare.
