How can I change the zoom while video chatting on AIM?

Hey guys! when ever i video chat (vc) with windows live messenger the zoom on the camera installed in my laptop (not removable) has a much less zoom than when i vc using AIM. When i use AIM the zoom is close enough so that you can only see my face but with Windows Live you can actually see some of my surroundings. I'd just use Messenger but the thing is my vcamera is slower and it freezes, but not with AIM.. is there any way I can change the zoom when using it with AIM??....

oh. and is there a program that can put effects on my cam while I'm vc.ing?
