Hi, my family recently adopted a cat from the pound. We are nervous, however, that the cat will try to attack the dog. What is the best way to introduce the two with little to no confrontation? Would it be easier if we got a kitten instead of a mature cat? Any tips?
The cat is 4 years old and larger than the dog. He's the biggest cat we've ever seen. He seems calm and introverted. A small small terrier was introduced to the dog while we were at the pound, and the cat hid under a chair and showed no aggression.
The dog is a 2 year old yorkie. She grew up with a cat, but hasn't had contact with one for 8 months. She was curious about the previous cat, but never tried to attack her or chase her.
Thank you! This is our first time adopting a cat, and want things to do smoothly. Has anyone had experience with a new cat becoming friends with a resident dog?
