Is it a mistake to chat with "weirdos" on line?

My uncle has a friend who has never been married, he hasn't had a g/f for years. He tells my uncle he sometimes chat to guys online about sex. Some of these men like little girls. My uncles friend says he has never traded or accepted photos from these men, but he likes chatting with them. What should my uncle do to persuade his friend chatting with these guys is a mistake. Chatting with them, even without trading photos, is harmful, yes?

I've chatted with many weirdos over the years. I find them to be great entertainment. Perhaps your uncle is intrigued by their weirdness, and is eager to delve into their psyche while maintaining a safe distance from the creep, via online. I know I chat with a guy named Kevin online who is also quite the weirdo. I maintain this online contact merely for entertainment purposes, and to better understand he mind of a sociopath.

It all really depends on what he is chatting to them about. As long as he isn't receiving the photos, and as long as he isn't being persuaded to gain these photo's then it isn't harmful. If your uncle however, wants to prevent his friend from talking to these people, he could subtly suggest the consequences of what could happen if he happened to get these photos in his possession.

Anyone who abuses or thinks abusing young children is ok is a sick baststeward! You don't have to accept images to be a part of the filthy paedophile industry! by just chatting to these weirdos it is encouraging this type of behaviour. Its up to all of us to actively identify potential abusers.... it may help just one child, but its worth it

it makes you wonder what exactly do they chat about if he knows about their sexual preferences?, also if he says he has not accepted photos then you can assume he has been offered some !! HELLO! ALARM BELLS ???? Your uncles friend needs to do the right thing, stop 'chatting' to these people, and tell the police what he knows. Does he realise he could also be implicated in child abuse if he is associating with these people??

Sorry to rant but a personal issue for me, too many sickos go under the radar because they dont think what they do or view is wrong, its up to 'normal' people to expose them for who they are. All too often peodophiles seem like normal, nice guys and they are far from it, they are 'grooming' this man, as paedophiles groom EVERYONE they come into contact, not just the kids, as they come accross as nice, friendly and trustworthy clearly if they like little girls then they are sick, convince him that by talking to them he is encouraging them and YES it is absolutely harmful!!
