More Bar Closing Nights ?????

these guys are not making it easy for you bar owners these days mate, was over there recently and it's no fun when the bars are closed, but you do get a good nights sleep, with no bikes or cars on rat-u-thit all night.

If they insist on dry days during elections, why can't they combine many elections into one day...TIT? Sure way for high voter turn out is to make people have to go out to the polls many times instead of just once.

When does the bar closure schedule for September come out? This seems to be becoming a bad norm IMO. :tuxout:

Tambons, Amphoe and mayoral erections will be for fixed terms. Its all these rounds of national erections that have fecked everything up- it wouldn't be right to mess up local stuff coz the big boys are bickering all the time. Voter turn out is the same as in most countries- 20-30% out of the ones who are eligible to vote; nobody is interested in politics. I am talking about those eligible to vote, not the majority of the Phuket population, which would knock the % down to about 4! The bar closings are farcial and serve no purpose, however as pointed out before we are visitors and should respect the laws no matter how we view them on a personal level. In all honesty it does not affect tourism to a great degree, as most people either stock up or go without for a day. To not sit in a bar for one night is not a great loss- if peeps are that concerned about it they can aim off around the closing days when planning holidays. All this talk by some of not visiting coz a bar is shut is BS IMHO- if that's all a holiday is about it needs to be reviewed

As far as I understand it, it's only July 27 that the bars in Patong will be closed.
The other dates affect the other areas..............

If you want something to do and maybe replicate a bar atmosphere, then stock up on supplies today. Have a room party tomorrow night.

If you don't, then tomorrow, you can troll the streets of Bangla tomorrow night and find that many bar girls will be trolling there as well. If, the 7-11 will not sell you beer, then venture to the closest little Thai neighborhood convenience store and they will sell you whatever they have available regardless of elections/religion events.

Do you think everything will be open in Phi Phi island on that date???? I will be there in July so might as well spend 1 night there if everything is closed in Patong....

Also dont wana sound like an ass but just to confirm, So everywhere else in Phuket will be open as per usual?

The thing is that nobody really know until the night before the actual day.....Its hard to get the right information over here......
Sometimes we don't even have to close for local elections.

But the dates mentioned in the posts above will only affect the towns mentioned. So the 27th might be a good day for a trip to Kamala or Phuket Town...........
