Here's my Story

I left Heathrow on the 23.09.06 with Qantas (BA) and have to say it was the best flight i have ever had.

I arrived in Bangkok at 1530 hrs 24.09.06 did not have to queue for passport control (last time i wait 90 minutes). Then i had fun trying to find the domestic terminal found the bus which took me there.

The on to my Thai air flight to Phuket which was good also.

Checked into the Patong villa around 2000-2030hrs and got one of the rooms above the stall holders thought i would have had a view of the pool but the room was good. Only problem i did not like about the room was you have to put your key in the slot to switch the power on including the A/C which isn't great when you have been sweating your tits off and you want your room nice and cool.

Then Hit Bangla road tried to find the Mai thai bar but never did i kept getting distracted. SORRY.

While i was looking around on Bangla rd a girl approached me in the street and said she would love me long time, i was unsure did not know if was ladyboy or not or if i would get robbed on my first night. So i gave it a miss.

Kept getting stopped by the people who make suits these people are fcuking annoying No is No i don't want a suit god they do my head in. Also why did they think that every English person is a cockney? (same thing happened in Pattaya I said to the Chap i do not speak like that and he said are you Welsh, I don't think so as I said I was from England and I was wearing my England footy shirt). There was only one suit person who took any notice and we had a good chat and he just gave me some advice to watch out and be careful.

Anyway after wandering around trying to look for the Mai thai bar, i was dying for a beer so i stopped off I think at Soi Lion (bar right on the street). I took a girl home called Joy who was nice but boy did i have problems getting rid of her the next day.

The next day I brought her lunch and we went for a walk, I told her that i would be meeting up with Tazmarine (from another forum) tonight. I had never met him before so I would not want to see her tonight. It would have been easier to get blood from a stone than it was trying to get rid of her.

We went out and had a meal then off to monger went down the first SOI with the Cobra bar on it had a beer then on to the next SOI with the Aussie bar on it where i met a girl called Lee who works at the Tahiti bar.

She is very nice but she is a handful after a few drinks she likes her teqilla. One night she left a present for the staff at tiger disco. I stayed with her until Friday 29.09.06.

Myself, Lee, Tazmarine and his girl spent a few days together going karting, shopping, gun club, bowling.

Me and Taz went to the Mauy Thai Boxing which was great. the first fight was two ten year olds and they really smacked the crap of each other. That night an English man fought and he won by knock out. Taz pulled the female doctor .

I had a really good time in Patong and wish i had spent longer there. I am really please that your advice help me with my holiday.

On 29.09.06 we travelled to Pattaya flew straight from Phuket on a jet prop aircraft the smallest plane i have ever been on .

I found that if you walk up Bangla rd from the beach then turn left. There are some good fairly cheap restaurants or places with the plastic furniture.

I also found that if you turn right out of the Patong Villa road and then take a left at the first set of cross roads you come too.

You come too the beach and you can sit outside and look over the ocean at night the food is good as well as the view its quite romantic.

Annoying as hell those people, but everybody has to make a living somehow... It can be quite humourous sometimes though, they break out the aussie accent, the american, even heard one break out singlish to one of my singaporean friends.

I had trouble finding the mtb as well first few times i tried to look for it. But then again you have to:

a) not be wasted when looking for it (makes it easier to get distracted)
b) Actually get set on finding it and read ever bar name on soi eric. Its on the right side sort of in the middle.

From reading this site, before getting to Phuket, my impression of the MTB was totally different than how it really is. I think so much discussion on this site, plus the live webcam pictures, led me to believe it was much larger (like 4 or 5 times at least) than it actually is. In my head, for whatever reason, it was the size of that plastic chair restaurant TL was talking about!!

The MTB is just one of the many bars in Soi Eric...so sizewise it is quite small. I actually had a lot of trouble finding it when I went looking (and I knew it was in Soi Eric), and that was during the day with no girls dragging you to sit down. And at night, I never managed to make it back.....like ThaiLearner, easily distracted I guess!!

Am I the only person that had this mistaken impression about MTB? Not sure what my point is....to me, its just funny thinking back about my imaginations of Thailand were before I actually made the trip, vs what I know now!

well all the bars in soi Eric are the same size........and most in the sois off bangla and other areas are the same size too....they are much different to western bars....

If you haven't been to Phuket before then yes I see that you could probably get the wrong idea about size with all the talk on the board.........but don't forget it is rarely completely full......I guess i have only really seen it that way a couple of times over xmas + perhaps Songkran....so why get a bigger place with much bigger rents + overheads when the size is perfect...

It is a great liitle bar full of the friendliest people in Patong (Nicke + staff + the BMs)....that's the reason to go there!!!!

It was kinda hard to miss?!?... Half way up on the right hand side, with a big sign saying MAI THAI BAR

I spotted it Immediately... But then again it was very early and i was sober first time there...

i think it's a good thing that mtb isn't too big. that way it's easier to get to know other BM's and guests of the bar.

Luckily it is a small bar otherwise it would cost you a lot more if you ring the bell or give a round of drinks.

I’m in town now and have spent the last 4 nights at MTB…Have to say that I have seen lots of BM faces that I recognize (from pictures)but have not had a chance to really talk to anyone. The girls seem to coral me in a corner and that’s it for the night. Feel very comfortable there as the girls are not aggressive with the Ladydrinks as they are at a few other bars I have ventured into. Maybe pushing my luck a little bit with a couple of the girls at MTB as there seems to be….how should I say it….an ownership issue once you have bar fined a girl once!!!

As Thai Leaner say’s there are lots of distractions along Bangla Rd but I’m getting more comfortable all the time, unlike the first night where I was overwhelmed. Absolutely no problem with the Tailors and I have walked miles. The only place I found them a little more aggressive was the south end of the Beach Road.

Oh ya…had one of those embarrassing moments last night as I walked right through the MTB girls and the flashing lights and sat down at the wrong bar…ordered a drink and then starting looking around and noticed all the MTB girls giving me that W.T.F. look!!!!:aao:
Drank down my beer quickly and relocated back to the MTB and was teased for a few minutes…think I was beak red…

I had a couple of other problems while I was there.

They lost my key and blamed me for it, but i allways hand my key in and when i did i used my safe deposit box which you sign for and the staff member at the time and that staff member had put in a different place.

Another thing was i was asked to pay a joiner fee for each night i had girls there. Yet my friend did not so i refused can only think if you book via latestays.com book for 2 and not for 1 person .

Shouldn't make a difference, 1 or 2 in the room. The price you pay is for the room,not the occupants. I reckon they were trying it on.

No joiner fees in PV LT............you were right to argue on that score....and i bet I know who asked for that.........was it the little brown(er) lassie.....she gets a bit cheeky from time to time but if you give her a friendly (verbal) tweak on the nose evrey once in a while she soon realises that you are onto her..........

There is another very attractive one in the PV reception tho'...tall and kinda singaporese lookin'.very pale + lovely face........and I must say I did fancy her a bit....that was until the D'man "spoiled my interest".......and before you ask.....my lips are sealed.......

Hey, does anyone here have a pic of the other cute girl that works reception at Patong Villa? Not the one Denver attached, and not the girl I'm attaching (tour guide girl). She is dating (or engaged to) a Thai police officer. I meant to take her picture the day I left but it was her day off!!
