Your info is correct Dabigguy.
Nanyuan Hotel is very good.
Nice room, good food, fair price.
As in every hotel I have visited in China, both Karaoke and massage girls will visit.
The distance between the front door and the elevator is a bit large, and the lobby always busy... but the worst thing you will get is some nasty looks from tourists, when you walk by with a 'visitor'.
Around the hotel (less than 1 min walk) are a few barber shops. Same as anywhere in China. (both price and quality is lower than in hotel)
Nanyuan Hotel is 15 minutes walk from 1 of the main nightlife centers in Ningbo. The route is safe, even alone at night. Just walk the main road, and don't be smart taking 'shortcuts' in smaller streets.
A friend also recommended Howard Johnson Hotel in Ningbo.
Havn't been there but all options are also open there or in the immediate neighborhood. It is a little bit closer to the nightlife.
I like the 'Chineese' atmosphere of Nanyuan
Next time in Ningbo, I'll return there.
Oh, And for those who are wondering about the questions in the first post :
-Nightlife in Ningbo is active, but don't compare it to Shanghai or HK.
-Fastest way Ningbo to Shanghai : by car over the new bridge.
-Is it worth to goto SH for weekend : depends. If you have opportunities later to visit SH, then stay in NB, otherwise, go for it.
