Numb leg after Reflexology treatment

Hi I am a newbie.

I wonder if anybody can help me understand why the whole of my left leg went numb and lifeless after a reflexology treatment. Is it good or bad?

After the treatment the strange sensation occurred for a short time during the night and hasn't happened since - but it was quite scary at the time, and feels like it was a dream!

The only thing I can think of is that possibly the sciatic reflex had a rather strong reaction. Your sciatic reflex (in case you don't know) runs either side of your heel and across the heel, and the sciatic support reflex runs up your leg. Both, I am presuming, would have been treated. Have you ever had problems with your sciatic nerves before? I would contact your reflexologist and talk to them about it. I am sure they will be happy to talk to you about it and allay any concerns you may have.

I do remember the reflexologist referring to my sciatic nerve at the time, but I didn't think much of it. But come to think of it - I have in recent years had physiotherapy/sports massage for an ankle problem of the left foot, and now wear orthotics prescribed by a podiatrist.

I do get tight calf muscles of the left leg, although ankle problem has been solved, perhaps the treatment released some of the tension. I'll go for another treatment and see what happens.

Hi, I sounds like you have had a healing response. Sometimes, issue/problem area's can get worse before they get better. This is a positive response and you must have needed the treatment. It should only last a day or two and then you should start to see/feel the benefit. Let us know how you get on!
