Numbness in ear/face after massage

Hi,

I've been having trouble with trigger points for a while now and my scalene's are really tight. I was working them there and after I was finished with the left side, I noticed that my ear, part of my face next to the ear and the top of the SCM just under the ear is numb. I was wondering if this is any cause for concern or if I simply went a little too hard and maybe caused some swelling that's just impinging the nerve as I do tend to use a little too much pressure and things are a little swollen when looking in the mirror.
