PURPOSE OF A REVIEW BOARD

As anyone on this site reviews all of the various posts about people and various establishments, a person runs the risk of facing criticism for posting a comment.

I would say that this is human nature. You have the right to either agree (or disagree) with what is posted.

In the business world (lets say a restaurant for example), there are many website's where you can talk about your experience.

You can say good/bad things, call them out (or compliment them) which is the basis of social media.

Since we had the ability to create a website, people started creating a forum based around their favorite interest/hobby etc.

Can you tell me why (lately on MP), that we are being asked to remove a post when all we are doing is expressing our opinion/thoughts/feeling of a experience/encounter that we had ?

A person posts something that happened to them. Unfortunately criticism/compliments come with the territory.

In the past, we used to say "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all", but in this hobby (where money and time are important), we need to know the good/bad and ugly.

Likewise the people that are being discussed in this forum (who work in this line of work), know that they are in a type of industry that is open to review/compliments and criticism.

If we have a good experience we want to tell everyone...likewise if we have a BAD experience, everyone SHOULD know.

Just something that I was pondering.......

I noticed that the fucktard has deleted his threads and I just assumed it was because he was proven to be a lying idiot and wanted to get rid of the proof that he was a lying idiot. Are you saying he was told (by admin) to delete the threads?

If that is the case, I can see why. You are right, people have a right to express thought and opinions but not to post outright lies. There were also slanderous comments posted and if I ran a board, I would not4 want to face legal consequences of letting slanderous comments stay. Even if I did not post them, if I let them stay, I MAY be just as guilty if those lies hurt another business.

if you are writing an honest review, and it has some negative experiences in it, and you can show how you are trying to help others know what to maybe expect without being defamatory (of course) but also without believing your experience is how it is every time (with the lady or place), then thats a viable 'negative' review. But many have small or large hints of negative bias - suggesting its a rip off, or they do this all the time. You need to let others decide based on your experience, thats all.

I wouldn't even call it a fine line between negative review and slandering. If a review states that a masseuse is weak or overpriced, that is negative review. In certain extremes, certain posts use terms like "disease carrying wh**e", that is slandering. If you hang out in the Toronto forums like I do, you do see it a lot; but hey, where else would you find a 100 page thread on bbfs and which provider carries diseases, lol, only in Toronto.

I would frequently use words like "weak", "not strong enough", "shorted time", "lack vfm" in my review; I do my best to provide warning without being slanderous. I would always respectfully refer to the masseuses as ladies and masseuses; I would never use derogatory terms like "wh**e" "b***h" to describe them. All of the masseuses are working for a living, they deserve respect no matter how good or bad they are.

I try not to but sometimes I just couldn't help myself. If a review is grossly inconsistent with my experience, I will chirp in. The most obvious ones would be when someone was described as young and beautiful but I know the same lady as 50+ and 50lb. overweight... I hate shrills; sigh, but my actions got me banned on CAF many times.

Competitors abusing the board to defame competition.

Jilted lovers seeking revenge on a particular SP.

A SP abusing the board (paying "professional reviewers") to give glowing reviews.

Some people aren't able to spot these reviews and take them at face value- that's when some ppl call for removal. Should they be removed? I don't think so. People just need to use a little "common sense" (that doesn't seem to be very common any more... )

There is also another variety… a positive review that is posted by a doting client who is smitten and the therapist manipulates them into writing glowing reviews. Each client actually thinks that they are on the verge of some special relationship with that provider even when the service is overpriced and far from stellar. In these situations the masseuse usually targets ‘marks’ that are not so confident about themselves. Calgary board has some examples.
