PRC = Peoples' Republic of China, there's some long holiday over there this month.

Even though the girls tell me about it every year, I always forget the nature of it, because there are so many long holidays throughout the year. But the one in October is one of the most popular with the girls. It might be the Women Workers or Mother's holiday.

Because the PRC factories are so prolific and productive (got to keep the masses employed, to stave off unrest ) they have a lot of long holidays throughout the year just to slow down production, and it also helps to relieve the pressure on the energy grid, which is not robust enough to cope with the rapidly growing energy demand.
