Usually the reminder texts from providers start coming in March when people/clients go away on vacations. This year something is up, starting to get those texts earlier, January hasn’t even ended. Time for people to realize that even massages charged back to insurance needs to be rationally priced. Why use it up with much fewer massages for the year? How many of you got a 20% increase in your available insurance funds? How many of you got a 20% increase in pay?

Me thinks there is more opportunity for intelligent independent therapists to build solid businesses in this market. By offering win-win value.

This is my regular massage go-to and the therapist/owner is Olina. She was charging $65 cash per hour and last year raised the price to $80, and more if a receipt or billing is required. I run a mma studio and she has helped myself and several of my students with our injuries.

Yes, it was close to a 20% increase but still below other professional therapists that have increased their rates to $120 and beyond.

Also Ava’s Thai stretching massages at $70 are a great deal at $70 for the hour, imo.

Recently, I have started to explore businesses that provide erotic massages and the prices vary a lot. Spas like, The Studio, Divinity Spa, Pamper Yourself, Calgary Nuru etc, are charging $160 - $200 for a half hour relaxation massage with nude body slides.. The Asian parlours are less, but from what I’ve read here, the prices are not consistent from amp to amp and there’s no guarantee that you’ll receive a proper massage or receive the full half or hour.

Asian escort shops are charging $160 - $220 for the half hour. Romantic Temptations, SIC, WB403.

I’ve been to Bodytree and paid $100 for a half hour massage with a hj and no nudity, on their part. I don’t know if that’s an increase in price. I’ve also been to Calgary Nuru and that was $180 for a half hour with nude body sliding. I do know that they recently increased the price from $160 for the half hour.

it is definitely slow out there. The economy is biting (interest rates) and discretionary funds are being used for other things.

Add to it providers jack (pun intended) rates out of pure greed but provide no better value for service and it makes the + services not worth it. I'll jerk off, pay myself the tip and then go buy a meal for myself for a lot less and more satisfying.

I've said it before, if insurance companies weren't in play you'd see much more rational prices.

Agreed. It slow out there. What I don't understand they are still charging high prices for low services . and most of them are sitting around the shops
not making any money. Try to figure it out ladies

Ego makes it hard to lower prices even if it causes financial damage.

The shops that are predominantly insurance driven are still somewhat ok but with higher rates their clients budgeted spend will be used up earlier in the year by at least a month or two. I haven’t heard of increases in insurance benefits. This is why I previously said that highly intelligent independent therapists who are qualified RMTs in good standing with insurance companies could do very well if they come up with the right plans to capture total loyalty and 100% repeat business.

This is unreal. If a person looks around, you see all kinds of businesses folding it up. I have found as I am sure many of us have that with shrinkflation and inflation combined, that just purchasing food takes up a WAY larger percentage of our income that I would have ever thought! And I don't over indulge.
You said it.....just wait for the next wave of carbon tax. Economy not able to take any more taxes.

I also have no problem paying for good service but it has to stand out. the problem is good service is almost a lost term now. And those working from their basement are charging (trying to?) dumb prices sometimes even more than a shop with overhead. I honestly don't get why this is happening unless there are more dumb people put there than I thought.

I like the new pump...$100/hr or if you pay cash it's only $90. Fuck off already.

As long as these guys who like to be led around and be demasculated are paying this will continue. I refuse to pay. I guess a trip to Toronto is going to happen. At least I know the sp's and mp's that care about giving you your money's worth.

TO seems to still have reasonable pricing. Vancouver is becoming like Calgary for pricing at most places.

By cutting out most massage visits and actually paying myself that cash ( the actual act of putting cash into a large envelope every time one skips an useless visit ) it’s been very rewarding. It’s fun to see the cash sitting and growing. Not suggesting that we cut out good massages, but just those totally useless experiences where you leave shaking your head. Do as you please, but getting empowered is a good way to enjoy this hobby.

Calgary is a 2 hr drive for me,quality over quantity. I do my information gathering after February so I have a few options for when I make the trip. Usually travel straight to one then have food and shopping, afterwards finish with another fine lady before the drive home.

In the past when the pricing had not gone crazy , I was quite active, going to a few places a week . Now I tend to go once a month to a provider that offers great service. Then I stay longer - like 2 hours and spend more. But the value is better than going to 2 places for crappy expensive service.

agreed, i go less often now. I am almost at the envelope filling stage like albertaman is. Unless I go to SE Asia I cant see myself frequenting anywhere in Calgary anymore.
