starting to study

Hi

I've recently become interested in reflexology, and would like to study it, but before starting, could somebody please tell me: how hard a course is it; is it worth doing a course by post; what's the shortest reflexology course that works, if anybody knows, and - does reflexology really work??? It all seems very positive here - it would be great to hear some more stories of reflexology cures/healings, etc, if anyone can be bothered!

As you will discover reflexology is a precise art. If you wish to become a professional practitioner need to put lots of time and effort in. This typically can take 9 months. If you just wish to help friends and family then it is possible to learn within a short period of time. Thai foot massage is a form of reflexology that can be learnt quick, and there is courses up & down the country.

As for does reflexology work? All orthodox medical and complementary procedures and therapies have degrees of success. What works with one person doesn't necessarily work for another - whether it's the therapist or the therapy or both!

did you get interested because you went to reflexology for some health problem?

Reflexology is amazing and is a great therapy to learn. My advice would be to look around for the best course you can find rather than the cheapest or quickest. If you want people to invest in you then it's always wise to invest in yourself.

The better quality the course - the more you will learn (about reflexology and yourself) putting you in the stongest postition when you qualify to be confident and sucessful.

As for sucess stories - In my experience everyone achieves benefits from a treatment or course of treatments - they are not always what the client came for and can be weird and wonderful.

You will be amazed how wonderful we all are as soon as you start working with other people - even in the hands of a trainee, people achieve amazing results.

I was really inspred by one lady who was kind enough to allow me to practice on her who had chronic IBS that was affecting her daily life, I'd only done the head reflexes at college at this point - however one treatment in the hands of a real rookie, just working on the brain reflexes was enough for her to heal herself and she has not experienced IBS symtoms from that day to this.

I have found reflexology very good for IBS, even when the trigger for the IBS had been a sudden psychological truama.

Thanks, guys, that's great! I'm interested in reflexology as a form of healing which seems down-to-Earth (literally!) and fuss-free. It would just be so wonderful if it worked - and it seems to work amazingly at times.

Good point re not every therapy or therapist working for everyone anytime.
