Update on Closing Times

Well I think this is good new, but remember this is LOS so I dont know if it will last

Anyway I can tell you that Soi Tiger Bars & Disco can now remain open until 3am. Just been agreed with the men in Brown (for a small favour)

Other Soi's have been offered the same deal but Im not sure what the situation is with them

Also Baya Beach & Taipan have been closing between 3 & 3.30 am the last few days, so I assume a deal has been done there too

Hope it lasts (I dont think it is official) but some high heads in the boys in brown have agreed to it in return for a favour or 2

I also heard the value of the favour at Soi Seadragon, for some reason it was higher there than in Soi Eric or Soi Tiger.

The value is the same for all sois, but how it is divided up amongst the participants is the difference.

Steve how do you know? Ive heard different prices for soi's I know about soi tiger because we have an association & we meet on a regular basis so there is no bull shit

Maybe what steve meant was its the same price per soi divided up among how many bars in the soi..

Seems odd as the Lion price I heard was same same as the tiger price (less bars)..

yes that is what I meant. Each soi will pay the same amount. I know in SeaDragon we have already paid, and I believe that some other sois have also. So 3am closing is now with us, but in reality for how long, and under what conditions. I mean is it back to 1 or 2 when some out of towners are here?? I have been unable to get any reasonable answers to these questions.

I also wonder what happens if some bars or too many bars refuse to pay.

I also think if VIPs or Bangkok police around I guess closing time will be earlier during their stay, but I dont know, just a guess.

I can only speak about the arrangement at Tiger

We pay Tiger every month & they pay the boys in brown

If any of us have a problem we can call a meeting of the association, where a vote will be taken regarding the issue a hand

A sidenote; there was a meeting at Patong Hospital recently were the entertainment licenses for 2005 were handed out and they said they will enforce that the bars have it from March 7.

As I am aware of some bars never applied for licenses last year so it will be interesting to see what happens.
