Anything north of Lion's Gate including West Vancouver is outside my familiar zone. I used to live on the West Side, yes yes, among the many who swing their bats the other way. Within West Side, there is nothing right there that is like XP, as they upscaled Robson, they all disappeard, most of the current spas are higher end boutique types. If I am looking for happiness, I would cross the bridge (walkable) to South Granville/Broadway, there was one a blocks from that corner; or walk the other direction to the Chinatown/East Side (not recommended, places there were really rough); or take a drive down along Kingsway (many there), or take the train to Richmond (many many many many there). I hear that there are way too many to choose from in Burnaby too but I personally have never ventured that far.
If you are looking for micros, that's a different story, many micros especially east european or Quebecois ones right there in the easy side, along Granville, Seymour, everywhere right around downtown. There were at least 5 within 1/2 block of my apartment there.
