Why is it when i try to socialize with people and have chit-chat to become friends?

Thier reaction is very lifeless, non-caring, almost zombie-like. They dont even really respond or acknowledge some things i said or anything i said to make them smile or laugh. Ive ran into too many people like this....and it makes me uneasy, nervous, upset, dissapointed, and uncomfortable. Its, like,...."WHY DID I EVEN TRY APPROACHING THOSE PEOPLE AT ALL". They just dont talk enough to get a conversation going. I mean seriously,....people pretend like thier in a hurry all the time,...when really they are just simple beings who should appreaciate a good chit-chat with a stranger.
Maybe its cause im 5'5'' and short....they dont want to be seen with me.....IDONT KNOW....IT JUST PISSES ME OFF! PEOPLE DONT HELP ONE ANOTHER IN PUBLIC.

Next person i see i does this.....IM JUST GOING TO GIVE THEM A GODAMN HUG!
Do people just want to be entertained and laugh at a comedian/clown all day!?

Honestly, if you are not the popular kid, and you try to talk to someone, they will shun you, happens to me, and I do it to others who are not the coolest kids..
