Crohn's disease

I'm not even sure if I'm in the right area to be asking about this, but I was wondering if anyone has any information about using any type of bodywork, energy work, or accupuncture in the treatment of Crohn's disease. I have a friend who suffers from the illness and is finding conventional medical treatments to be as bad as being sick. None of my books address it, so I was hoping for information, or suggestions about where I could get some.

I would also suggest that your friend work with a good nutritionist, if he (or she) hasn't already gone that route, as well as seeing an allergist to find out if certain foods are a trigger for this condition. There is a great deal of info & help available, via the internet, on all sorts of digestive conditions.

Generally speaking - Corn, Wheat & Dairy are three of the major culprits to avoid, as much as possible. You could direct her toward a couple of good book resources for more information: Prescription for Nutritional Healing comes to mind, as it covers many conditions & is a great reference guide.

Of course as stated in the threads, stress has a major part to play, as does an imbalance in natural digestive secretions, among other things. Acupuncture can certainly help as can a number of other methods, such as Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reflexology & working the meridians through Shiatsu, Acupressure, & the Trigger Points.

I was working with a client who has a really severe case of Crohn's. He was making extremely good progress coming in for CranioSacral Sessions. I found numerous energy cysts and facilitated segments associated with his condition. I only saw him for maybe 3 or 4 sessions before he moved away. So, I can't comment on how things would have progressed with more work. But his digestion improved and energy levels increased with just those few sessions.

I also had recommended he check out Garden of Life products and Jordan Rubin's story. Jordan had an extremely severe case of Crohn's and was told it was the worst case the doctors had ever seen and he was not expected to live. Today he is completely cured. He did so through diet and supplementation. He has a few books I recommend checking out:

Thanks to everyone for all of the great direction on the topic of Crohn's. I'm looking into all of them for my own knowledge as well as passing them along --the trips to the hospital, infusions, etc. are getting old. I've also been considering accupuncture to expand my own practice base and get those ceu's, so it'll be interesting to see if that can be applied to Crohn's.
