I confess I've not read this thread, I'm posting only to comment on the choice of the word "insurrection" in the title.

To believe this was an insurrection and label it as such requires unquestioning acceptance of what is being reported in the media. I don't think reading Trump's actual statement could bring you to that conclusion. Did Trump say untrue things and use irresponsible language for a leader? Yes of course he did. Could his language have egged on the wilder supporters to break the law? Yes. But did he tell anyone to storm the Capitol building and use force? Not to my knowledge. This morning I read the full transcript of his statements to the crowd which had gathered to protest. A full transcript (btw) has not been readily shared by most legacy media and the video of his speech was actually banned on Twitter and Facebook. Think about that...and the fact that the majority is ok with it. Astonishing.

If you maintain Trump broke the law here, please explain why and how. As well, be prepared to explain why we should not apply the same judgment to the scores of Dem politicians who over the last year have encouraged and supported the BLM and Antifa protests that have caused so much damage and injury.

I didn't read or listen to Trump's speech. But the video clips I saw showed him saying, over and over, "they rigged the election. We're going to march, and fight, fight, fight." So, that's what they did.

Where was Trump when all this was happening. Hiding in his bunker, watching it unfold on CCTV, like a Coward?

The Democrats are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They're damned if they do, and damned if they don't. Nobody should ignore what happened, and just forget about it. If nothing is done to punish anyone, it will set a bad precedent and make riots acceptable and a normal part of everyday life. But on the other hand, some people are saying impeaching Drunk Trump will only create more division. No single solution will be the perfect solution. But, I will say that impeaching Drunk Trump will do more good than bad.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Who is Harold Ford jr.? When and how did he kill your wife's grandfather?

What you're saying doesn't make sense. Doesn't it seem like Drunk Trump wants to turn the United States into a Communist country by holding on to power after clearly losing the election? By creating fear and claiming election fraud even 6 months before the election? It's the same as if I accuse you of causing a car accident, before the accident actually happened. And then not producing a shred of evidence backing my claim.

Wasn't it Drunk Trump who indirectly committed the murder to the policeman who was caught in the riot on the Capitol? What do you say to his wife and children? Do you know if Drunk Trump has reached out to apologize to the officer's family? What about the families of the other 5 victims? Has he taken any blame for the cause of those riots?

I guess the police had no choice but to invite the rioters in the Capitol, or perceived to let rioters in. You don't remember or heard of a police officer getting killed in the line of duty in the Capitol building? Maybe there weren't enough police to stop them. Hitler also tore down Statues that told the TRUTH of WWI (that they lost it). Today's calls for removal of statues is that their legacies are either lies or horrible omissions of their destructive policies.
