You are assuming Republicans are a stable and static population base and pool of people. If you look at the link I provided, the “Republicans” have lost people who have identified as such whereas Independents have grown. Being “Republican” Is no longer the same as what it once was. Trump helped to shift the Republicans more to the right. So, that smaller, more right-wing Republican Party could still vote him in as their candidate.

But, here’s the problem with the Republicans: they are an aging white party. They are like the San Jose Sharks or Los Angeles Kings: they need a rebuild and to get younger but the GM is like “no, I have faith in my core of veterans”. Put another way, if this was Canada, Trump would have been the guy trying to transform the Conservatives into the Reform party. How well did they do?

I’m just drawing a line between the Primaries and the General election. A shrinking party base can still vote their fearless leader as their 2024 nominee. But being the guy nominated that speaks to a shrinking pool of people that like the message that becomes more right-wing isn’t going to help him in the General election.

Trump left with the Senate with one seat away from a GOP majority and the House with just a few more. That more than qualifies as almost, much as you wish to deny it since it destroys your analogy.

A note of interest for Trump's primary chances ....at CPAC a few week back....a poll among the most extreme GOP base types showed only 55% would vote for Trump.

2 months after the fact, the Washington Post admits they lied and misquoted the President.

How do you misquote the President of the United States?

His words were on tape for everyone at the news organization to review. Does that mean the staff at The Washington Post all have hearing deficiencies?

Communists can't win honest, open discussion, so they lie in order to win the day.

Here is the Washington Post Correction - they admit they lied 60 days after printing the lie and letting it spread:

“Correction: Two months after publication of this story, the Georgia secretary of state released an audio recording of President Donald Trump’s December phone call with the state’s top elections investigator. The recording revealed that The Post misquoted Trump’s comments on the call, based on information provided by a source,” the correction published Thursday began.

Notice how the Washington Post claims they printed the story but weren't privy to the recording? Right..........................if you believe that, you probably believe Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny are real.
