No, no, no. You sign up / register using your mobile, that's it, done. If you are one of those Facebook fiends, you can add that too

but it still needs your mobile in any event.

Nearly every App nowadays creates a unique QR code you use for various purposes, one purpose WeChat uses QR is

to add contacts, but there are more ways to add contacts too, I do not even know all of them. One basic way is a proximity

(simply standing near someone), couple clicks, done. And besides, no worries, the MPA will add you in 10 seconds,

just give her the phone and it will be done.

If you have not already downloaded WeChat beforehand, forget it.

If people are serious about doing away with difficulties making appointments, communicating directly with your "Chinese" MPA

I encourage you to download and try. WeChat has many other benefits too (voice, video calling to China or other places in the World)

The App is identical to the other bazillion out there in regards to registering an account. Are there more ways than one to register?

Yes, but if they confuse you, why not use the simple method? And don't confuse that there's a ton of information out there for people

wanting to register an account without traceability, ie not using their mobile number to receive a registration verification code

to activate your account - which is a process normally required for any similar App's.

Is Michelle mainland Chinese? Assuming she is ,,,,,

It could be Michelle thinks laowai are not smart enough to open a Weixin account (which is Chinese counter part to WeChat),

she may not even know what WeChat is. If you are Chinese to Chinese, always Weixin, no one gives out cell # unless you are real friends,

even burner phone it is more difficult to block people if need arises than with Weixin / WeChat.

Mainland Chinese are using mobile Weixin as their primary source of payment for many years, it comes combined with douyin (TikTok)

has all the other social media play toys as well, WeChat is cut-down version and to circumvent the US Policy of CCP access to American

data. Biggest thing to note is never send anyone with a Weixin account anything derogatory (photo / text, etc) about Chinese in general,

the government especially, and even more importantly Xi Jinping. They will be banned. Not sure if WeChat gets that same censorship.
