Muscle Mice
I don't know how I missed this thread before. But I am happy I found it.
When I was 14 and running track, I fell awkwardly attempting to do hurdles - and very distinctly felt and heard a painful *pop* on the right side of my lower back. I was taken to the DR. for my pain who sent me for x-rays and upon finding nothing on my x-rays pretty much said "Suck it up" and sent me home with some super-strength muscle relaxants that were pulled off the shelf shortly after for killing people. For about a good year if I got out of bed and put pressure on my right leg, I'd drop to the floor from searing pain down my back and leg. I had to ease into putting pressure onto that leg, and my back always hurt.
Kept going to the Dr and kept getting no answers. She never referred me out to a PT or MT or anything of that sort. The main reason I KNEW something had been damaged or thrown out of whack was because I had one big movable lump, and a few smaller ones, that were not there before.
I still have my 'mice' they don't cause intense pain anymore, but do restrict my ROM when turning at the hips because I do get pain shooting into my glutes if I turn too far - and my lower back does have a dull ache into my glutes most of the time.
Nice to finally know what my lumps are. Too bad it's been 9 years since my injury and I no longer see that same MD. It's obviously something she could've used a little education on.
