RMT in Ontario can Reopen starting today

I dropped by my RMT yesterday at noon. She said they are still closed and thinks they will open phase 3.

That might be a personal choice not to reopen. Many RMTs are seeing clients next week. Not sure what phase we're in to be honest but, the government did give the green light yesterday and it's now up to the Colleges to provide a framework for reopening.

Just gave out the green light but didn't announce the date, Kinda confusing, only saw on CTV news which said June 1st. Social distancing is still in effect. Just wonder what the guide lines are for spas, all they say was must meet the Covid safety guide lines. Very confusing and some girls and owners are still scared to work.

They cant open until their regulating body/college sets a framework and tells them they can open. They will have to follow rules or risk license suspensions im sure.

Guidance to RMTs on COVID-19 – Gradually Restarting Massage Therapy Treatments

The Ontario government recently updated Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health’s Directive #2 for Regulated Health Professionals . As a result RMTs are now permitted to gradually restart Massage Therapy services. The Directive encourages healthcare providers to limit the number of in-person visits for the safety of healthcare providers and their patients.

Directive #2 allows for a gradual restart of services to be carried out with adherence to guidance from the health professional’s regulatory college. In the gradual restart of services, RMTs must:

Comply with requirements in the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 Operational Requirements: Health Sector Restart (May 26, 2020 or as current), including, but not limited to, the hierarchy of hazard controls;
Prioritize clients with essential care needs while gradually resuming practice. Massage Therapy treatment is considered essential when the client’s overall health or function would considerably decline if treatment were not provided (i.e. lead to hospitalization or other serious health consequences);
Adhere to COVID-19 Pandemic – Practice Guidance for Massage Therapists
Restart Massage Therapy practice gradually, ensuring enough time between appointments to clean and disinfect the practice environment; and
Regularly look for updates on the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 webpage and the CMTO website as the pandemic continues to evolve. Direction from the Ministry of Health and Chief Medical Officer of Health overrules anything that may be on the CMTO website."

RMT clinics are seeking guidance from their governing body. As you know that a province thing where spas are governed by municipality. They are not in scope if you have a holistic or body rub license. Probably they will have to watch when barbers, hair and nail salons open.

Same with lots of mpas I spoke to. Most of them said the virus is still out there and don't want to take a chance. To be honest, it is too early to open at this stage where spreading is still going on.

Nope, not yet. They want to wait out a bit and see how things go. They are in the process of installing plexiglass shield at the reception. Even when open, will start with 2 or 3 girls only to prevent crowding.

Doesn't there actually need to be an RMT on site. And aren't they the only ones that would be able to work under the guidlines?
