Is the kitchen cook on display as usual in HRC....I'm kinda like sitting there watching the workings of a kitchen.....something not to many are brave enough to do here...and mostly with good reason

I wouldn't mind looking behind the scenes too...are your concerns more about cleanliness than chaos Benjy...you know my concerns about fire evacuation so I'll take a good look at that too before indulging

having said that HRC offer a whole experience...not just a meal...and I think that they are not generally unreasonable over the world....I have no problems paying for a good burger...and if the 10oz burger (provided it is prime imported beef) is the one being touted at 500bht that would represent value to me....particularly if I was taking a TGF...most would enjoy this sort of stuff more than a French 5 star IMO

To be fair I saw mostly before the major parts of the renovation was done, It's an old building refurbed, I'm not sure if that is their normal MO but it was a VERY grotty building before hand.

I'm probably being harsh, I had a bad experience with the guy managing the build process, I can honestly say her was the biggest chump I've ever met.

Truth is it's an international company, I'm sure it's not shoddy.

Yes but I often buy things from the UK, have a bank account there and maybe will move back there some day or at least holiday etc... I also convert things into dollars because my business imports from the states every month.

It doesn't mean I don't also heed and totally understand the price is in Baht, just that I am also able to do that and understand instantly what that money would get me in two other very different places (UK and USA).

I've always been very good with figures so it all comes naturally, without trying.

It's not like everytime I buy a packet of Polos I'm sitting there with a calculator, its effortless and automatic for me, for others it might be an effort so can see why they wouldn't think in those terms.

I think that the build it and charge what you want brigade may be a little dissapointed at this location.

As I said, from what I remember opening parties were packed affairs with celebrities and no room to move, not 25 expats just checking the place out and an opening week without half the menu available.

they really should offer kitchen walk thus if they have nothing to hide...I'm sure lots of their clientele (as they would be coming from outside of LOS and having preconceived ideas of cleanliness here) would be interested

went to HRC last night.

its nicely done and you can just about see the kitchen - its not closed off but in the corner.

1st disappointment was i wanted ribs...."sorry no hab" W.T.F!

Had pulled pork sandwich which was very good and the onion rings were fantastic. Meow had Mac/cheese which she enjoyed.

My other complaint (and this was to be expected as its the same the world over in Hard Rock ) is all the zany service with whoopin' an' a hollering all the time 555

Meow wanted to wait to see the house band which started just as we left and were top class playing bluesy stuff. Of course a group of 3 farang girls whoop an' a holla and start dancing (hmmm seemed quite set up - paid for, and they do have a few farang staff).

And some burgers are 690 baht! cue yet more 'i will never pay that for a burger'

Nice report Hobbsy...I too, could do without the hootin and hollering...and still stand by my convictions that their burgers are way over priced...From what I recalled on my quick visit last week...the band set-up was a bit aukward..as there seemed to be very few seats in the place that actually had decent visibilty of the venue...which I thought was a bit strange...Did you buy one of those t-shirts at a 1000baht...and if so, it must feel real good on you!

I've always thought HRC's expensive wherever they are in the World but it hasn't stopped me going and especially when I was married with the kids.

I can't comment on the Patong one as I haven't been in there yet but normally the service is good and the portions large.........even in the one at the Printworks in Manchester. Tch!

I didn't 'settle' in Phuket to drink Guinness in a Hard Rock massageplanete....It's aimed at a different market and I am sure that 'Market' will use the place.

Like others have said, it's got a front door, you don't have to go through it.

Not found the one here in Kabul yet, but still have a zippo from the one in Sarajevo and a t-shirt from the one in Baghdad............!!!! :yes:

So I guess each HR sets its own prices.....Does anyone know who the head honcho is of the HR in Patong?...Maybe he/she can explain why they justified to over inflate prices here.

Benjy, I don't think that HRC is aiming at the expat crowd. I'm curious how it will develop, but I think the location is crap and location is what it's all about.

as for the burgers...well I just paid 200bht for a 4 oz (Thai Beef) Burger in a small bar in Kamala so I am not scared by 690bht for the 10oz in HRC

poor form to have no ribs....ribs and burgers is what HRC is built on

Thats the problem, I saw the opening party photos and everyone there is an expat, I would have expected loads of holiday people.

I actually like the HRC just for a beer and a look round at the memrobilia

Some are better than others like the one in Key West with the American girls and their Florida Tans and white Teeth and Silicone boobs and tiny waists.

Bangkok was a bit boring, Manchester is a bit depressing but I like the one in Amsterdam by the Canal and the one in Edinburgh near George Street was OK as well.

I also like to rate them on how good looking the women who work there are as well; which is why Manchester rates quite low

I will have a look next month and then see what its like

Well it definately doesn't sound safe then, I wouldn't worry about seeing into the kitchen, I'd get the hell out before the footings give way!!!! unless of course they were Tyranersaurus Rex ribs,. because those feckers seems to last millions of years!!!

Been three times now, always between midnight and 1am, I have yet to see a band there. Been given a different reason each time for the absence of a band. Such as last week 'It's their day off'....rock and furthermore roll indeed.
